Osheaga Music Festival

2021 | COMD-224

A rebrand of the popular music festival using its 2019 lineup. Inspired by 1960’s/1970’s fashion and design, this project focussed on creating a series of brochures and promotional posters for all three days of the festival.

Concept

This rebranding loosely references aspects of 1960’s/1970’s design, inspired by the ambience of Silk Sonic’s 2021 Grammy performance of ‘Leave the Door Open’. A rainbow-like, warm colour palette was used to mimick the fashions of the 1960’s and 70’s. Additionally, the use of abstract retro patterns, which were also common during the decades were created to add an eye-catching element and something that is reminiscent of a summer sunset. The use of Cooper Black and ITC Avant Garde Gothic is directly inspired by 1970’s album cover designs. All of this coupled together creates a feeling of this summer festival at dusk, capturing the feeling of a fleeting summer.

To ensure the brochures were consistent with their respective poster, the same backgrounds were used on the outside of the brochure.
